Reflection and goal setting
When we returned to work in the new year, I knew we had a busy year ahead! Not just month but year!
I knew we were going to be coming back to a busy schedule, we were starting the year on the same number of telemarketing days as we did in our busiest month of 2020.
When we finished 2020 we had a 96% renewal rate, a stat we were extremely proud of for our first year and had a very clear goal in mind, to grow but more importantly SUSTAIN!
This had to be our attitude moving into the new year, if we lost sight of this then we would lose our identity.
We have a number of different clients now ranging from on site security to screed flooring, each campaign is different and we have gained trustworthy relationships with these companies.
So How did January fair?
Well, I can safely say that since starting Excel it was by far the most challenging month on record! Something I am probably going to say a number of times through this journey.
We finished the month with some great results, and some stand out performances.
A massive congratulations must go to Cameron Hollinger our youngest Account Manager at Excel who won Employee of the month in January.
Cameron did not just have a fantastic performance he proved that age is irrelevant in this job, Cam is 16 years old and already setting standards that some experienced Account Managers would struggle to match.
Well done Cam, amazing performance!
We welcomed Kim to the group and I can safely say that Kim has been a great addition to our team and we can’t wait to see how her career develops with us.
It would be easy to talk about how great the month was, ignore the issues we faced and not have that chance to show just why we are as good as we are!
We unfortunately said goodbye to our Team Manager – Des Hinks at the start of the year, Des was a fantastic member of Excel and he will truly be missed by all the team, we wish him all the best moving forward on his new career path.
This naturally left us a little light on the ground and made us adjust our way of working, it is challenges like this which make us stronger and help us learn to adapt.
We dug in deep, we worked together as a team and yes I even worked some campaigns myself, I actually enjoyed it!
It is so easy to forget what goes into this job and what the guys do day in and day out, but it helped! Not just me but the whole company. I felt apart of it all over again and remembered the excitement of scheduling meetings for our clients.
It might not sound like much of a challenge, but when you are running a business and you are about to launch 5 additional arms – you end up finding your time more precious than ever, especially at home.
But these challenges are what make us who we are and more importantly prove that our team are not scared of the challenge.
As we go into February, I am delighted to say that all of our accounts renewed with an additional 5 new accounts joining us. This is once again a prime example of how hard we work and how our reputation has grown since we set up.
We have taken on 2 new Account Managers in February. Scott Cooper and Nick Dunn joined us and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the company.
I am pretty sure that February will bring on more challenges…..but bring them on!
I still say that we are just getting started at Excel and we will continue to grow and adapt as time goes on.

Many thanks for your time.
